A Prayer

For those who have lost so much due to the bushfires here in Australia,

we are so terribly sorry, and unable to truly express how we feel.

No one can know another's suffering.

We can only remember our own and how much it hurt

and wish that the suffering of others would end.

Forever.

We honor your courage, both now and in the future.

your helping your neighbors, your helping strangers.

And all we can say is that with all our hearts,

we hope your's will some day find

that the pain has eased,

some happiness returned.

May you benefit from the loving thoughts of we strangers,

as we hold all of you in our hearts.

Yes and Amen. Sending much comfort and peace to everyone in Australia, from all of us in Canada.

Dear Venerable Wuling,

Thank you for the touching prayers.

I remembered the Saturday when the bush fire started, the wind was like fire, the hottest that I have ever experienced. I remembered thinking how awful it was if one was caught outside in the fire. We are the fortunate ones, where there is no fire.

The bush fires areas are places that we have visited for bush walking and recreation frequently. We are deeply saddened and shocked to find the destruction and the many loss of human lives, animals, trees and livelihood. In January, we went to Marysville and admire how beautiful the trees were, and noted that we would return in autumn.

Now, it’s a different story.

I would like to dedicate my prayers to the many lives loss, and those suffered so much.

Amituofo.

To Theresa, literally on the other side of the globe, and Bee, my fellow Pure Land webmaster who lives in Melbourne, thank you.

Bee, I've been thinking of when I visited you some years ago and we drove out into the hills outside Melbourne. I remember how beautiful the area is, was. Even when we understand, such devastation and suffering is still so terribly sad.
